The virtuosity and sheer poetry of XinOu Wei’s playing has taken him across the stages of London, Hamburg, Berlin, Paris, New York, and Lucerne. He made his debut at age 9 with Shenyang Youth Symphony Orchestra in 1999, and in 2002 he was chosen to be a part of the program "Perlman in Shanghai". 

XinOu Wei has worked closely with prominent conductors including Sir Simon Rattle, Matthias Pintscher, Péter Eötvös, and Ricardo Chailly due to his association with the Lucerne Festival.  has been a member of the New York Chamber Soloists and Mozart Orchestra of New York under Gerard Schwarz. As a member of Lucerne Festival Alumni, collaborated in a Joint concert with the London Symphony Orchestra in Lucerne Festival under Sir Simon Rattle. As a freelancer in New York, he has appeared in all the major halls in New York, and has served as concertmaster of Camerata New York, Long Island Opera, Loft Opera, Garden State Philharmonic, Glen Rock Pops, Central Park Symphony, Livingston Symphony Orchestra, Adelphi Orchestra, Tri-Cities Opera, Syracuse Opera-and most recently New Jersey Festival Orchestra. Mr.Wei has collaborated in chamber music with James Ehnes, Victor Rosenbaum, and David Aaron Carpenter at Carnegie Hall, and has performed for Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden and H.R.H. Princess Madeleine, as well as leading the ensemble in performance at American-Israel Cultural Foundation’s 75th Anniversary Gala, hosted by Itzhak Perlman. Presently, Mr.Wei performs regularly-leading his string ensemble “Quartet Alt Wien” for major events, weddings, and house concerts in New York, at venues such as Cipriani, Capitale, and Ziegfeld Ballroom. Most recently, he has contracted the musical entertainment for, and led the ensemble in performance at American Red Cross’ Gala at Ziegfeld Ballroom at the presence of New York City Mayor Eric Adams.

In addition to performing, XinOu Wei is a widely respected teacher. Mr.Wei’s devotion to teaching led him to hold posts in some of the most prestigious musical institutions in America. He was the teaching assistant for Sally Thomas at Meadowmount School of Music in New York from 2009 to 2013, where he also coached string quartets. He has also taught classes and given Master Classes for the PALS program in Aspen Music Festival and School and Rutgers University. Mr.Wei is also on the jury of Adelphi Orchestra’s annual concerto competition for young artists. XinOu Wei’s students includes those from Mannes School of Music in New York, and Chicago’s Northwestern College, as well as freelancing players. Many of them had won concertmaster positions with local orchestras, school orchestras, having gained admission to the most prestigious institutions and festivals, as well as winning auditions and competitions.  

Born in China, XinOu Wei came to the United States in 2007 to study with Stephen Majeske, Elmar Oliveira, and Carol Cole at Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree. Stephen Majeske’s consummate artistry, sheer mastery on the violin, and human qualities had a profound, lifelong influence on Mr.Wei’s own search for beauty and truth. He has also studied with Boris Kuschnir and Hubert Kroisamer in Vienna. XinOu Wei holds a Masters of Music degree from Mannes College of Music in New York, in the class of Sally Thomas. He has also studied interpretation with Carl Schachter, the eminent theorist and musician.  Mr.Wei’s conducting study is with John Farrer, and Howard Williams of the Royal College of Music in London, and with Kynan Johns in New York. His conducting debut was with the London Serenata in St James's Church, Piccadilly.

XinOu Wei plays on a violin made by Louis Drouin in New York in 1932. He makes his home in New York City.
